As students at the University of Minnesota, our lives were transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through our involvement as students with Campus Crusade for Christ, we were able to:
-learn more about what it means to be a follower of Christ
-have opportunities to share our faith with other students
-be in weekly Bible studies and eventually lead our own Bible studies
-be discipled to grow deeper in our faith
-go overseas on six-week summer projects
-graduate as commissioned laborers of Christ to continue reaching others
We began dating towards the end of our college careers and quickly saw how we were passionate about many of the same things in life, being following God with our whole hearts and reaching others so they could experience a life-changing relationship with Him. We got married in May of 2009, and that summer we joined full-time staff with Campus Crusade for Christ.
From the summer of 2010 until the spring of 2013, we served as Cru staff at St. Cloud State University, trusting God to build a spiritual movement of students on campus. During our first few months on campus we saw a need for an athletic ministry to help bring the gospel to athletes on campus who were not yet hearing about Jesus. What started as three athletes involved in the first year turned into 12, 30 and then 60 by 2013. God was growing our heart to work with athletes and a new opportunity arose to expand our influence.
In the spring of 2013 we accepted a position to work full time with Cru’s ministry to athletes called Athletes in Action. This called for us to move back to the Twin Cities and for Luke to serve as a Campus Director at the University of Minnesota. We also were allowed to continue to help the AIA ministry at SCSU grow and develop after what the Lord built in the previous years.
God has been so faithful, and we are thriving in our new role with Athletes in Action. We are thrilled to minister to athletic influencers on campus who will help change the world for Christ.
